PREMIERE: Sail away on a ship of Modern Love with Captain Dreamboat

They’re, silky, they’re slinky and they’re sexy. Captain Dreamboat are the Brisbane collective winning hearts everywhere with spellbinding vocals, sultry jazz melodies and that tasty big band sound Australia loves.

Today they drop their latest, a groove named Modern Love. The Brisbane West End locals have outdone themselves here, not only composing an alluring track, but sending a beautiful message of acceptance along the way.

Captain Dreamboat preaches the unlimited beauty of human affection on Modern Love, undoubtedly one of their most powerful jams to date.

Modern Love relays a simple message: that love is for everybody, whether you’re straight, gay, bi-sexual or trans. A picture we can all get behind, but sadly one that has become maligned with Australia’s old-world policies of late.

Lead vocalist Ofa Fanaika’s dedication to this ideal lifts her vocal performance to dizzying heights, a enthralling show of emotion, experience and indeed commitment to a worthy cause.

Placed against a backdrop of twinkling keys and brush percussion, Captain Dreamboat weave an elegant sonic tapestry. The brass section knows when to ease up and when to show off, and the track never flies too close to the sun.

Given the themes of Modern Love, this restraint is much appreciated. More peaceful protest than violent demonstration, this is one band proving you don’t need to throw stones to make a statement.
