PREMIERE: Twofold Vision’s sophomore EP Parallax is a tribute to all things Orwellian

Melbourne duo Twofold Vision have today released their EP Parallaxa conceptual homage to all things dystopian.

Formed in 2017 as a hobby project by Australian Institue of Music alumni Alicia Richards and Matt Tinkler, Twofold Vision witnessed their debut six-track EP Perspectives receive commercial success, with regular slots on community radio nationally.

Twofold Vision’s conceptually-driven Parallax is both an Orwellian nightmare and an electronic triumph.

Their sophomore EP Parallax combines elements of EDM, progressive metal, hard rock and synth pop to create something uniquely unparalleled. The EP follows a more conceptual path; thematically, their songs deal with war and violence, economic collapse and environmental destruction.

Parallax was over a year in the making. Twofold Vision have managed to make their signature breed of music simultaneously cataclysmic and intriguingly hopeful, their dark and chilling beats are made even more powerful when combined with the angelic voice of Richards.

All five tracks on the EP were subject to some pretty amazing production, too. I guess that comes with having graduated from Australia’s most prestigious music academy.

You can stream Parallax in full below, via Spotify.

Praised for their onstage presence and interaction, Twofold Vision are launching their EP next month at The Worker’s Club in Fitzroy. They’re also playing November’s Celebrating Three Years of Live Electronic Musicians of Melbourne at Swamplands Bar in Thornbury.

Parallax is available on all digital streaming devices from today.
