PREMIERE: Jack Panther returns with Club Bathroom Stall, a slow-burning synth-pop gem

We were first introduced to the immersive synth-pop sounds of Jack Panther late last year, with the release of his debut single Heartbreakers. Normally, an artist will take a little while to fully develop their sound; with their first handful releases lacking a little direction. Jack Panther, however, seems to have bypassed this entire stage of artist development.

Right from the get-go, he has had a concrete vision of his sound, and now, with the release of his slow-burning new single Club Bathroom Stall, he continues to build himself as an artist to watch. If you’re not already familiar with this name, it’s definitely time you changed that.

New Zealand artist Jack Panther has returned with his second single Club Bathroom Stall; an intimate and powerful slice of carefully considered electro-pop.

The new single is emotive and striking; with sparse production, Jack’s intimate lyrics shine through. For the track, he has enlisted the help of Amy Bonsor and Samuel Jordan, who both contribute to the track’s mesmerising power. Listening to the song feels as though you’ve entered into a private conversation between partners – it’s somewhat voyeuristic, but you’ll be unable to look away.

The track is about “the initial first moments of heartbreak, when you’re trying to get over the withdrawal from all of a sudden being alone,” Jack says.

Club Bathroom Stall is the second single to be taken from Jack Panther’s upcoming EP Retrospect. Considering his track record, I think the EP will be packed with plenty more brilliant tunes.
