It’s the first new tune from Iluka since her Ritual EP in 2018, and we couldn’t be happier to share it ahead of tomorrow’s official release.
Closer To You is a hands-in-the-air love song you’ll want to sing from the rooftops. Complete with punchy drum lines and hooks for days, it’s instantly one of Iluka’s most captivating singles to date.

Closer To You was produced by Jack Moffit of The Preatures, who has recently been lending his studio know-how to I Know Leopard, Mosquito Coast, Wild Honey and of course, his own band. Suitably the track rings with an immense sheen, the drums sounding more powerful than ever and the rest of the mix following suit.
In case the tune itself wasn’t shiny enough, Iluka has also shared a glitter-clad music video directed by Imogen McCluskey. Abound with flora and lipstick of all flavours, it’s a party you’ll wish you were at.
Iluka has never seemed so close to pop-stardom as she has on Closer To You. If this is indeed the first taste of things to come for the Sydney-based songwriter, you’ll want to keep a very close eye on what comes next.
Iluka will be launching Closer To You on Thursday March 21st in Sydney, as part of Cobra Club’s ongoing free concert series on the rooftop of Kings Cross Hotel. She’ll be playing with her full band and demoing even more new material, while Charlie Gradon will be opening. It’s not a night you want to miss.
