PREMIERE: Melbourne outfit Girlatones bring a sunny side to garage rock on Fitting In Well

Garage pop outfit Girlatones have released a riotous new single in Fitting In Well, a blissful mix of gritty garage and surf pop. Hailing from Melbourne, it seems Girlatones are instilling some sunshine to the cloudy city.

The band stands as Jesse Williams, Leah Senior, Jacob Booty and Tam Matlakowski on bass guitar, who brings a slew of impressive band credits including T.V., Pop Singles and The Stevens. The band have already released two singles off an upcoming record, You’re My Friend and Share The Love, which have been given a bunch of love across Australia and independent radio overseas.

With upbeat guitar, a light coastal twang, and vulnerable undertones, Girlatones make garage rock brighter than ever on Fitting In Well.

They’ve professed their music is a “wacky brand of pop music laced with honesty and humour” and if this is the case then Fitting In Well hits the nail on the head. Just when you think you understand the song’s structure and direction, Girlatones throw in a spanner, bending their vocals and lyricism to craft something truly unique.

It’s abstract and developed. With an intellectualism that jumps out at you straight away, Fitting In Well is a clever articulation of personal, social and romantic growth. The track is relatable and engaging, telling a story to the backdrop of accessible pop.

On a side note, we highly recommend the album art – which you can suss below. Its bold colours and beautiful composition are worthy of everyone’s eyes and articulates the band’s sound in the best way possible.

The record is due for release on November 3rd. If Fitting In Well is anything to go off, we consider it to be one which is highly anticipated.
