Chase City are four Hobart musicians whose eclectic tendencies have seen them produce everything from guitar based surf pop to electro-dance. Despite their ever evolving, unpredictable nature, one thing is certain – they continue to present us with bright, catchy tunes, their latest alt dance-electro concoction Don’t Wait being no exception.

With punchy vocals, a collective cooing sneaking its way from the background to the forefront, synthy riffs, and trashy, prominent beats, Don’t Wait begs for some definite movin’ and shakin’ to be had. The track is something to let go to and the perpetual pleas not to wait serves as the perfect encouragement to down yet another shot of life’s natural energies and get your dishevelled self out onto the dance floor, or wherever it is you choose to escape to.
No matter where you get your groove on to this song, you can be sure another mid-twenties (or maybe tween, I haven’t decided yet) party loving, inner west hipster is frothing hard over its contents – which Stoneman explains were written about the “Tedious nature of the music industry, and the ‘pretentious’ steps bands have to take to move forward in their career.”
Recorded over three months in Studios 301, and Sing Sing Studios with the helping hand of producer Magoo, the four-piece aimed musically to step into new, untouched territory. Influenced by the likes of iconic 80s group New Order, the band set out to draw as much inspiration as possible and pour it straight back into their own unique cocktail of sounds – a mission they’ve accomplished to quite an extent.
Although they’re yet to have cemented a sound to completely call their own, there’s a world of unearthed noises that are anxiously awaiting to crawl into their banquet of instrumentation and manifest itself in the shape of a low down dirty dance track – one for the ages. Don’t Wait will no doubt please their current fans and entice a few new ones into their dark web of luscious little electro surprises. Kudos for providing the goods, boys.
Having earned frequent airplay on triple J with previous singles Tear You Down and Scarlett Sky’s, the indie outfit have toured the continent as both headline and support acts with the likes of Sticky Fingers, British India, and Asta, with their next headline tour due to take place in January, with dates to be announced early next month.
