PREMIERE: Melbourne’s Concentration reveal an ethereal first taste of their debut record

Newly signed to Melbourne label Thin Visitor, alt-pop group Concentration have been hard at work developing their debut album titled Premature. Off this impending release, we are stoked to share with you the first single Forgiveness.

A labour of love and a standout from the album, Forgiveness is just that, a passionate, vulnerable and driving track which articulates a sensitive side to Concentration.

Concentration

For Concentration, Forgiveness is a new and exciting direction, a step away from their more edgy approach to avant-pop sounds into a more ethereal and voluptuous landscape.

In speaking of the track the band have said ““Forgiveness is the black sheep of Premature in many ways – the soft gooey centre of what is otherwise a pretty noisy affair – yet the ominous pulse of trip hop bass and dub atmospherics still broods with a subtle intensity.”

“Like a Gothic re-imagining of Serge Gainsbourg’s collaboration with Brigitte Bardot, the duet depicts the poisonous cycle of betrayal and forgiveness that sustains a doomed relationship with little else to give, building to a keys-driven climax before evaporating slowly in the same dreamy ambience it rode in on.”

The single was recorded with German artist Thrush after time spent in Hungary and this multi faceted approach to their sound is very much built on these wild experiences and diverse creative tapestries. If you like a sound that pushes the boundaries of genre and speaks of experience, individuality and vulnerability, then Concentration is an act you should be interested in.

Already with a sizeable fan base in Victoria, the rest of Australia need to pick up their act and get around these guys before they blow up.

They are all set to launch the record on the 2nd of March at Northcote Social Club and from all accounts, this event is highly anticipated. The event will also include local acts No Sister and Tackle in support.
