PREMIERE: Áine Tyrrell unveils her new video for Row Back The Levy

It was back in 2015, with the release of her debut full-length album Queen Of Swords that we were first introduced to the earthy indie-folk sounds of Irish-born, Australian-based singer-songwriter Áine Tyrrell.

Now, as she gears up to release her second album Return To The Sea, Tyrrell has shared a new video for her most recent single Row Back The Levy. We’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.

With the release of her new video for Row Back The Levy, Irish-born singer-songwriter Áine Tyrrell laments on weighty issues with captivating charm.

On Row Back The Levy, Tyrrell weaves together elements of folk, blues, soul and rock to craft a sound that is uniquely her own. The track was born from a collaboration with fellow Irish songwriter Cara Robinson (Hat Fitz & Cara), who stumbled across the song’s chorus in the middle of the night. “A song came through to me, but it’s for you,” Robinson said to Tyrrell, and from there, the track emerged.

With the two songwriters originating from opposite sides of the Irish border, Row Back The Levy laments on this rift that continues to divide the Irish nation.

The video itself blends underwater footage of Tyrrell with found footage of Robert Flaherty’s The Man of Aran.

Return To The Sea is set to be released on January 31st, and judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from Áine Tyrrell.
