Pretty sweet pop-duo out of Brisbane, The Phoncurves, are oh so delightful with their honeyed harmonies. The latest single Lover off their recently released second EP Heartstrings is a sugary serve of soulful sounds that you’ll want to play over and over and over again.
Some great stuff outta Brisbane, Naomi and Abbie of The Phoncurves are strumming and harmonising up a storm of catchy folksy pop.
Full of harmonised ba-ba-badaaays, Lover is layer upon layer of melodious bliss. Taking turns to lead the track’s deep earthy vocals, Naomi Hodges and Abbie Roberts’ simple but illustrative lyrics send you twirling down streets alone at night. While you can’t help but let Lover’s enchanting lyrics take you to lovely little places in your mind, its layer of bass and drums give it the kick that get you up and moving.
Equally charming, if borrowing more from 60’s Greenwich Village is their first single Heartstrings. It’s syrupy harmonies trickle from the duo’s rolling vocals, giving it an all-out folksy vibe. Swinging back and forth from a slow to fast tempo, the acoustic guitar and soft percussion have you doin’ the closed eyes sway. But, it’s those hypnotising harmonies which sweep you up and take you far, far away.
