Electronic duo Peking Duk are the latest to throw support behind drug testing at Australian music festivals following two deaths and string of hospitalisations at electronic music festival Stereosonic.
The band, who were playing the festival, took t0 their Facebook page to vent their frustrations following the death of a 19 year old man which is currently being treated by police as a drug overdose.
Hip-hop artist Illy has also spoken out about the state of drug use at festivals, saying testing will help people make better decisions.
25 year old Sylvia Choi passed away at the Sydney leg of Stereosonic last week, which resulted in many parties arguing over the regulation of illicit drugs at music festivals in the country. 19 year old Stefan Woodward died at Royal Adelaide Hospital after another suspected drug overdose at the Adelaide event on Saturday December 5. A 20 year old man and a 21 year old woman were also taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition for suspected drug use. Another man in Melbourne was hospitalised and placed in intensive care, and according to Ambulance Victoria was one of six suspected overdoses at the Melbourne leg of the festival.
