Staff of Event Medical Services, the paramedic company contracted to provide first aid services at Stereosonic, have been told not to speak to police regarding the death of 25 year old Sylvia Choi.

Revealed by Fairfax Media, an internal email details that a few hours after Miss Choi’s suspected drug overdose the 55 staff members who were at the Sydney event were advised not to speak to the police or media, or make any posts on social media.

It should be noted that staff at the festival were notified they were to be paid $30 an hour before they started work, so the email Fairfax has procured most likely comes from a disgruntled employee.

Founder of EMS Mike Hammond has since expressed his annoyance with the email leak, saying “They [NSW Police] come to me, I own the company, they don’t talk to anybody at the end of the queue, they call the head of the company.”

The police are currently preparing a brief for the coroner, so it makes sense that EMS staff have been told not to speak about an ongoing investigation.

Following the events of Miss Choi’s death there has been much debate over the the monitoring and education of drugs at festivals, with rapper Illy taking to Facebook to share his opinion.
