Not at BIGSOUND? Here are 5 gigs to get over the FOMO

Not everyone can be up in Brisbane living the rockstar life that is BIGSOUND. 150 amazing bands in one place is a hard thing to top, but Bris-Vegas isn’t the only place to take in some quality choons in the flesh. All these gigs we’ve featured plus way more you can find over at the Happy Gig Guide.

5 Gigs to get over the fomo

Don’t cry those tears for BIGSOUND there’s still plenty of great shows to take in this weekend. Have a geez at our top picks to help you get over the FOMO.

Tumbleweed – Friday 11 September, Manning Bar, Sydney

What more can we say? The legendary Tumbleweed are blazing their way through the country on a massive tour and any self-respecting Aussie rock fan should find them at one of their gigs. The band are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Galactaphonic album, so why not take part in some nostalgic rock gold?

Yumi Zouma –  Friday 11 September, Northcote Social Club, Melbourne

Breathtaking Kiwi darlings Yumi Zouma have made quite the splash in these last two years. Their soothing EPs are nothing short of mesmerising, and with the band only making two short stops on this tour you better make sure you get your ticket.

Pearls, Sunbeam Sound Machine, Ali Barter – Friday 11 September, Wooly Mammoth, Brisbane

Spiralling out of the BIGSOUND shenanigans alt-rock (dare we say post-punk) Melbourne crew Pearls will grace Brisbane with their presence a while longer with a show where you’ll find the only taxidermy dinosaur in the country (we think). Along for the ride is the audaciously talented Sunbeam Sound Machine and Ali Barter. These are three of the best emerging acts in the country, so having them all in one place will be dynamite.

Ecca Vandal – Saturday 12 September, The Workers Club, Melbourne

Love rock? Love some attitude? Great, then this is place you need to find yourself; in the presence of the incredible Ecca Vandal.

Gang of Youths and GRRL PAL – Saturday 12 September, The Capitol, Perth

We’ve just spent the last few days crushing on both of these bands at BIGSOUND. They’re completely different, but damn they are entertaining. Be sure to have a dance with Jay LeKat when she jumps in the crowd for Dare, or just be mesmerised as you bask in the charismatic presence of Dave Leuppepe.
