Nickelodeon are currently making a full-length Rocko’s Modern Life TV movie

Nickelodeon is on a bit of nostalgia rampage at the moment, having recently reunited the cast of All That, turned Legends of The Hidden Temple into a TV movie, and announced that a Hey! Arnold movie will be coming out in 2017.

Now they’ve continued this 90s throwback streak with the announcement of an hour-long revival of classic cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life.

Nickelodeon continue their 90s nostalgia streak with the announcement of a full-length TV movie of Rocko’s Modern Life

In an report from EW, series creator Joe Murray revealed he will return to produce and co-direct the film. “I’m very happy to be rejoining Rocko and my friends from O-Town again,” said Murray in a statement. “What I have found by bringing these characters back is that it’s not so much about nostalgia, but a sense that they still feel relevant and fresh to me, and after 20 years, they can’t wait to comment on modern life in the 21st century. They still have a lot to say.”

Although it is still unconfirmed whether the original cast members will too be returning for the production, it’s quite certain that all original characters will make a comeback, including of course Rocko, and his mischievous dog-pal Spunky, his best mate Heffer, his quaralling neighbours Mr and Mrs Bighead, and Filburt, the nerdy, distressed turtle.

Rocko’s Modern Life premiered on September 18, 1993 and ran for 4 seasons, ending in 1996. It also launched the careers of SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg, as well as the voice of SpongeBob/Heffer, Tom Kenny.
