Newtown Festival 2017: the Inner West’s beating heart where good vibes were felt by all

Thanks for the good times once again, Newtown Festival. Now in its 39th year, the annual event run by Newtown Neighbourhood Centre feels as fun, fresh and fantastically weird as ever.

How many festivals in all of Australia have been running for 39 years? It’s a long stint for sure, yet heading to Newtown Festival in 2017 had the feeling of something new, exciting and groovy beyond all belief.

An annual celebration headed by the legendary local nonprofit Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, Newtown Festival has brought all the wackiness and whimsy of the Inner West together for as long as it has been put on. This year was an official romper, with Camperdown Memorial Rest Park turning into an absolute cultural hotspot for the day.

Big thanks to all who came down to make this event what it was, and big thanks to Brooke Tunbridge for capturing it all.

See you next year!
