Melbourne’s leading troubadour Skyscraper Stan returns with On Your Corner

“Skyscraper” Stan Woodhouse feels most at home on the tarmac ribbons that cross the country. He’s often found traversing the Hume Highway alone, travelling from one small town to the next, playing shows for the people in the middle ground.

Perhaps that’s why his lyrics have such an observational quality; he’s always watching, always listening, always searching. His music, too, is revelatory. With the beguiling charm of Nick Cave and Marlon Williams, Skyscraper Stan returns with On The Corner, a taste of what’s in store for the artist’s forthcoming LP Golden Boy.

Melbourne’s leading troubadour Skyscraper Stan returns with his heartwrenching new single On Your Corner, second track off his forthcoming LP Golden Boy.

On Your Corner details the distress that comes along with the unequal distribution of emotional labour in relationships. The track was written in a hotel room in Darwin, halfway through a gruelling solo tour.

The song, which was recorded at Melbourne’s Woodstock Studios, is typical of Stan’s lyrical work – honest, vulnerable, rich in imagery and, at times, a little tongue in cheek. On Your Corner reaffirms Skyscraper Stan’s position as one of the leading troubadours in contemporary Australian music.

You can stream the song via Spotify below.
