Meet Doug Clarke, an audio engineer blasting his way through Sydney’s inner west

Audio engineers are the unsung heroes of the music world, an essential cog in the recording wheel. If they’ve done their job right, as the old mantra goes, you’ll barely think they’ve done a thing.

Doug Clarke is freelancing between some of Sydney’s finest recording and post-production studios including A Sharp and Two Dogs TV. So far he has worked with a range of musicians as well as in film and TV, expanding his portfolio and building his credits into something formidable.

Meet Doug Clarke, a passionate audio mixer and producer in Sydney’s exciting music, TV, and film world.

On the music side, Clarke finds a particularly comfortable home in the heavy, alt rock and hardcore scenes, having recently worked with bands the likes of Vacant Shades and Sun Heights – the latter’s new single Remain/Resist garnering radio play on triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud.

But that’s hardly where his talents end. Folky singer/songwriter Courtney Heaton is also amongst Clarke’s compatriots with two brand new singles recorded at The Kiln. His recent posting at Two Dogs TV has seen his list of clientele begin to include heavy hitters such as Warner Bros and Endemol Shine.

Clarke’s TV and film work has blossomed in the last year, with two cinematic releases as a Dialogue and Effects Editor for Living Universe, a space documentary narrated by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, and Under the Cover of Cloud, an independent Tasmanian film which screened at the Melbourne Film Festival 2018.

Doug has returned in 2019 to Warner Bros to mix SBS’s new show Medicine or Myth?.
