The Kinks announce new box set, release previously unheard track from 1968

This November will mark the 50th anniversary of The Kinks’ 1968 album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, and to celebrate, the band will be releasing a new box-set reissue of the record.

The reissue will be available in various different formats, including a ‘Super Deluxe’ box set, which will feature demos, alternate versions, live takes, TV performances, and more spread across five CDs, three 12″ LPs, and three 7″ singles.

The Kinks’ 1968 album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society turns 50 this year, and to celebrate, the band are releasing a new box set!

The new box set is also set to include interviews, photography, and essays from The Who’s Pete Townsend and a heap of others.

I think The Village Green Preservation Society is about the ending of a time personally for me in my life,” says Ray Davies.

In my imaginary village. It’s the end of our innocence, our youth. Some people are quite old but in the Village Green, you’re never allowed to grow up. I feel the project itself as part of a life cycle.”
