Legion 2016 has been cancelled, 2017 dates announced

With just one week left for Legion to hit its crowdfunding target of $3 275 000, a message has been shared on Legion’s website, announcing festival has been postponed until 2017.

Although the Pozible campaign has made a huge effort and already managed to raise $318 036, it seems there is no way for the campaign to reach it target, leaving event organisers no other option to postpone the event.

In a statement released by event organisers to Pozible supporters, it is explained that “Following extended discussions with industry partners, bands and the Legion Fan council, John Sankey and the Legion Music Fest team have made the decision to change the dates of the debut festival to January 2017 to coincide with the Australia Day long weekend.”

The statement outlines that all pledges that have been made will be transferred to the new Legion 2017 campaign.

Event organiser John Sankey said “We did everything in our power to make Legion happen this year but, given a couple of hurdles that we’ve had to faced over the last few weeks, we made the positive decision that it’s in everyone’s best interest that we do this in a way that’s as sustainable as possible”.

The dates have now been set for late January in 2017.
