Klo-Make Me Wonder

Damn it feels good to be writing for Happy again*. After spending the last however long abroad, I’ve got to say that one of the best things about coming home has been the refreshment provided by our predominantly superior music scene (no offense rest of the world).

Klo band

We could’ve sworn Klo had been around for ages. Their polished electronic and soulful sound will give you a reason to follow their musical journey for the long run.

Since returning, the likes of Motez, Kilter, Peking Duk and Seekae have already helped many likeminded Australians to kiss goodbye their winter blues**. I guess the point of my babbling on is that in an increasingly competitive sphere, there is certainly no shortage of musical talent in our lucky country right now – and Melbourne duo Klo are as you will soon discover, yet another testament to this.

Aside from being a part of the same bloodline, cousins Simon Lam and Chloe Kaul share an undeniable knack for all things music. Perhaps musical genius is genetic after all. With Simon on production duties, Chloe takes the reigns as both vocalist and lyricist, and together Klo’s musical superpowers are fused together to form what sounds like electronic blues.

Chill, minimalist, soulful and ultra modern, Klo’s sounds will no doubt make their way from your ears to your heart in next to no time. And if that’s still not quite enough to capture your attention, then keep them pretty eyes reading.

Up and coming as ever, project Klo has only existed since the start of this year, which is quite hard to believe considering the amount of love they’ve been receiving – over 100k clicks of Soundcloud’s play button and counting, Klo won’t be unknown for much longer. Make Me Wonder and False Calls are two of the pair’s masterpieces enriched with layers of golden synth and goosebump-inducing vocals that make for a truly warm and well-rounded sound.

With an EP on the way, an upcoming debut show, and the exposure that will come with playing at some of this summer’s hottest music festivals, Klo’s star is well and truly on the rise. Below are some dates that probably only Victorians will be happy about, but to the rest of Australia – Klo will be well worth the road trip.

Friday, Sept 5th – Boney, Melb
Friday, Nov 28th – Sunday, Nov 30th  – Paradise Festival
Tuesday, Dec 30th – Thursday, Jan 1st  – Beyond the Valley Festival, VIC

*We love you babe!
