Dance your Sunday away at Darlo Bar’s Souled Out: a live rooftop broadcast with FBi Radio

On March 31st, Darlo Bar and FBi Radio well and truly have your Sunday sorted with Souled Out!, a dance party being broadcast live from the venue’s sunny rooftop bar.

Every Sunday from 5pm, FBi Radio invites Sydney DJ mainstay Stephen Ferris into the studio for two hours of non-stop jams on Souled Out. It’s helped us on many a Sunday drive home, but this time they’ll be taking it outdoors.

A rooftop Sunday sesh with great cocktails and the best disco, funk and soul sound like your jam? Don’t miss Souled Out! at Darlo Bar.

Darlo Bar has become a Darlinghurst favourite of late, a small bar whose doors open to all in the eclectic locale. Known for it’s lively rooftop bar and brand new, lip-smackin’ cocktail menu, its two-levelled entirety has become a first stop for anyone in the area looking for a fun night.

Duck into Darlo Bar on the afternoon of Souled Out! for a two-hour set from Stephen Ferris and special guest Rodney O, right after the venue’s usual Viva La Vinyl programming. Bloody Mary’s go for $16 all day, and there’s free pool on Sunday to boot. May as well spend the day there!

Ferris has been DJing and performing around Sydney for decades, running club nights, appearing on regular programs for triple j and FBi Radio, playing private functions, and recently curating the yearly VIVID Live lineup.

His obsessions are far and wide, but Ferris has a soft spot for soul and it’s place in hip-hop, disco, jazz and furthermore. Souled Out is known for blasting the sounds of Prince, Donna Summer, James Brown and more, with nods aplenty to modern soul masters and, of course, those gold nugget digs you’ll never have even heard of.

It doesn’t stop at Souled Out! for Darlo Bar either. As mentioned, they book a weekly vinyl-only DJ set from Jay Katz and Miss Death under the name Viva La Vinyl, taking place every Sunday from 3pm on the rooftop bar. Another one for the wax heads is the Darlo Record Fair, an upcoming partnership with Listen Up Records launching on April 14th and ongoing for the 2nd Sunday of every month.

On Thursday April 18th they’re running Darlo Decades: Stairway to Heaven, a night brimming with all breeds of rock n’ roll through history. Talking Trash Records will take the reins as you celebrate the Good Friday Eve, banging your head so hard you’ll need a Long Weekend to recover.
