Enter the sprawling and cinematic world of Jimmy Sweet’s new video When I Do Wrong

With his pencil-thin moustache and tailored suit, Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Jimmy Sweet came sauntering into our lives from seemingly out of nowhere. He’s been making music for the past number of years as the frontman of Lady Low… though now, he’s gone solo, and the result is one of the most exciting musical projects we’ve come across in some time.

With the release of his new single When I Do Wrong, Sweet has firmly established his penchant for crafting dark, cinematic anthems that always hold lyrical weight.

If you’re not already familiar with the epic, cinematic sounds of Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Jimmy Sweet, do yourself a favour and change that right now.

Throughout the new single, Sweet glides through an ethereal blend of indie-rock, soul, gospel and pop to craft a sound that will blanket your body, roping you into his immersive sounds.

With his whiskey-soaked croon and rich instrumental arrangements, Sweet has pieced together a simultaneously unnerving and euphoric piece of music that will stick with you long after it reaches the conclusion of its four-and-a-half minute duration.

The track’s new video is the perfect visual accompaniment. Described by its director Miles Szanto as “an exploration of sexuality and identity in the California high desert,” the clip flaunts some stunning videography, and follows a story that will hit you just as heavily as the track itself.

These are still early days for Jimmy Sweet’s new solo project, but judging by the quality of what we’ve heard and seen so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material.

For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video for When I Do Wrong above.
