Je Bahl talk us through their funky new clip for Back on School Dirt

Off the back of their debut EP Exotic Radio, Je Bahl has followed up their brand new release with a stunning live video for Back on School Dirt, shot in a sun-soaked Church back on their old stompin’ ground.

“Track by track, Je Bahls Exotic Radio EP provides a truly intangible, bubbly energy that breathes new life into the electronic and dance music scene as we’ve never seen it before.”

Je Bahl’s debut Exotic Radio EP is the ultimate summertime soundtrack, providing a high energy, eclectic blend of hip-hop, funk, exotica and a subtle hint of neo-psychedelia.

The exotic funk, hip-hop and neo-psychedelia outfit, Je Bahl take a moment to run us through the inspiration for their brand new clip, Back on School Dirt.

Back on School Dirt is a lush, disco-inspired track, highlighting rhythmic and melodic simplicity that encourages you to listen over and over. Its repetitive bass line keeps you deep in the groove whilst an evolving hi-hat rhythm and vocal cuts “put your mind at ease and your body in motion”.

We were workshopping ideas for a location and we thought it would be great to shoot somewhere close to home and close to our hearts. We found out that this place was being demolished and it’s literally down the round from where a lot of us went to school, so we just had to shoot in it before it got turned into apartment buildings.

The huge arch windows and stained glass features scream divinity. The sun hits the north face of the building and because of the vines on the exterior, a beautiful natural lighting effect happens where the sun reflects off the unsettled dust and creates these heavenly beams that shoot across the room.
