Jazz maestro Herbie Hancock announces 2019 Australian tour

The jazz master Herbie Hancock has announced a string of dates across Australia for 2019. He will be doing shows in Canberra, Perth and Brisbane as well as closing the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

As of yet no Sydney shows have been announced, however, his tour takes place during VIVID 2019, so we a theorising on a special announcement yet to come.

Herbie Hancock is making his long awaited return to Australian shores for some unmissable shows this year.

If you ask us though, we will be heading down to the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, where Herbie will be playing alongside names such as Billy Childs, Vince Childs and Linda May Han Oh.

With 14 Grammy awards and six decades of experience under his belt, the jazz heavyweight will be putting on a show that you will not want to miss. Herbie also played in the legendary Miles Davis Quintet, one of the finest jazz ensembles ever, where he redefined the role of a jazz rhythm section.

Joining Herbie will be longstanding band members Colaiuta, bassist James Genus and Lionel Louke.

So take a seat and join the legendary Herbie Hancock on a journey through one of the most defining genres of modern music.
