Bold and brimming with soul, Izzy Losi & The Auracles prove they’re the real deal on The Only Constant Is Change

Izzy Losi and the Auracles have got me in a right state. The instant I heard Nothin’ On Me I flicked the band straight over to my sister, insisting she listen to what is quite possibly my new favourite EP of the year.

It’s Florence and the Machine, it’s Fleetwood Mac… it’s heaven. Izzy has one of the most powerful voices I have heard in a long time, rich and complex. Pulsating with warm keys and lilting guitar, it’s sexy and soulful and it’s AUSTRALIAN!

The Only Constant Is Change  is the name of the new EP. If you couldn’t already tell, I’m a fan.

Izzy Losi and The Auracles

Lyrically diverse with potent whispers of ingenuity, Izzy Losi and The Auracles have managed to nail a classic tone with just the right amount of personality.

Nothin’ On Me and The Deep End hit with the same intensity and emotional resonance. Change twists the record into a funky dimension; the bold bass and swinging keys absolutely flooring me.

Mine of Gold bends us upside down again. Sweet and romantic, Izzy doesn’t falter once against a rich piano and percussion driven canvas. It’s a ballad running deep with sonic complexity and innocent lyricism that has me falling head over heels.

Following on nicely is Not Alone with a bit more grip and tempo, including gorgeous, swelling builds and vocal intensity. However it’s the trumpet and hammering piano that sells this one.

These last two tracks do have a certain romantic pop element to them, which is an interesting transition from that really bold opening, but nonetheless great additions. There’s something here for everyone.

Turn the Sun harks back to that energy of the beginning of the record, allowing a strong string section to dart around the mix. A big track and a perfect one to finish on.

I’m finding it hard to fault The Only Constant Is Change; if you’re up for some big, upbeat fun without the pop nonsense then I highly recommend Izzy Losi and The Auracles. Without a doubt, the real deal.
