Indie folksters The Winter Gypsy announce an Aus tour, and release a delicious new track

Adelaide indie folk group, The Winter Gypsy, have announced a tour of Aus this August, and September in support of their debut EP, Page 1, due to be released on August 5.

Winter Gypsy

Get your folk pants on, ’cause you’re sure to be blown into a world of indie folk supremacy when The Winter Gypsy come to town.

The six piece that consists of Tushar Singh, Max Lambert, Dave Thompson, Isaac Kerr, Jonny Kotts and Sean Helps, have given us the first glimpse into the record with new track Took Me By, and it’s accompanying music clip.

Speaking of the track, frontman Singh says:

“I wrote this song about a period of time where my mum was battling cancer – I felt helpless because there was nothing I could do to make her better.   I wanted to portray that thought into having a visual of someone restrained and ‘crying out for help,’ but having everyone run past me through the tunnel because there’s nothing they can do to help me….”

As the guys gear up to head out on the road, Singh also says the band are keen to play for new ears:

We love performing live and fans can definitely expect a lot more energy compared to what they might usually hear on our EP or other recordings….”
