Happy Mag’s Guide to Sheaf Sundays

The December break is something beautiful, a time when the sun shines, responsibility seems to melt away in the heat, and you’re suddenly swimming in free time.

A hot new spot to spend your sunny Sundays is at the Sheaf, who will be hosting live music each and every week.

This weekend past, the venue hosted Total Giovanni and World Champion, a Sunday session for the ages. Right through summer they’ll be putting on a similar showing, and you’re free to waltz in whenever you like.

Contrary to popular belief, Sundays aren’t just for lazing around. Over the summer there’s a ton of places to get your freak on, and Sheaf Sundays are a top pick.

100% free

There’s something bittersweet about seeing your favourite band transcend the smaller, free shows you fell in love with them at. You’re proud to see them hitting the big time and selling tickets, but nothing quite beats the vibe of a free show where fans are in it to discover somebody amazing.

The Sheaf are committed to keeping their Sunday parties 100% free of any entry fees, so you can bring as many mates as you like without having to do any convincing. See some free music, it’s good for the soul.

Food and bevvies

The Sheaf have been serving up some of the best pub grub in town since forever. Whether you’re hankering for a full-on Sunday feed or a quick snack to keep you standing between the beers, there’ll be something there for everybody.

For all your summertime cocktail needs, the venue is also running the Bacardi Rooftop Rum Shack right now.

Kilter – January 27

Some of Kilter’s past haunts include Big Pineapple Festival, Electric Gardens, Splendour In The Grass, and opening for The Presets. In other words, it’s an absolute steal to see him play a DJ set for free in a Sydney pub.

His debut album The Distortion dropped in 2017 to absolutely massive acclaim, attracting attention from all over the world and amassing a staggering amount of online streams. Seeing Kilter is live is a rare enough thing on its own, see him for free is like striking gold.

Kilter’s show will also be taking place on January 27th, which was just announced as the Hottest 100 2019 date. His set will be kicking off straight after the countdown closes out, so you’ll be riding that high all night long.

Sheaf Sundays take place every Sunday from 4pm. Find out more here.
