Happy Mag’s guide to Oktoberwest 2018

Next month, Oktoberwest (The Inner West Beer Festival) will return to Marrickville’s Factory Theatre for two huge days of beer, live music, and great food. Needless to say, we’re pretty bloody excited.

To ensure you make the most of this holy event, we’ve pieced together an extensive guide with some of the acts you’ve got see and some essential information you’ve got to know.

The Inner West Beer Festival, aka Octoberwest, is fast approaching! So we’ve compiled an extensive guide to this incredible event.

Music

Ok, first thing’s first. This year, Oktoberwest will boast a huge lineup stacked with some of the country’s best bands. Leading the charge will be Adelaide pub-rock legends BAD//DREEMS, Inner West party-starting heroes Philadelphia Grand Jury, and Australia’s favourite dart-punching sons The Chats.

Also hitting up the Factory Theatre stage will be some our favourite local acts, including Neighbourhood Void, Sunscreen, Imperial Broads, Bloods, and a massive stack of others.

Do yourself a favour and catch as much of this live music as you can… it’s some of the best currently making the rounds.

Beer

As we all know, live music is a whole lot better when its being watched with a cold beer in hand. This year’s instalment of the Inner West Beer Fest will present a curated selection of eight of the area’s best breweries.

While BAD//DREEMS tear apart the stage with their sweaty and raw brand of rock n’ roll, you’ll be able to enjoy a cold serving of Young Henrys, Willie the Boatman, Wayward Brewing Co., The Grifter Brewing Co., Batch Brewing Co., Sauce Brewing Co., Philter Brewing and Malt Shovel.

Food

In addition to this fine selection of amber nectars, a selection of mouth-watering slow cooked meats will provided by the Inner West’s favourite barbecurators Bovine & Swine.

In addition to all this goodness, there’ll be a stack of brewery merch up for grabs at with the Mayor of the Inner-West Darcy Byrne’s Brewery Bingo, there’ll live stand-up comedy, there’ll be free arcade games, there’ll be Mario Kart ’64 courtesy of 1989 Bar & Arcade pop-up ‘Beercade’ on Freeplay, and Frankie’s Pizza’s famous Rock N’ Roll karaoke with Dave Eastgate.

Head over to the festival’s website for tickets and info. We’ll be seeing you there.
