Happy Mag’s guide to Falls Festival 2018/19

If you’ve never spent a New Year’s at Falls Festival, you’ve been missing out. It’s as simple as that. For over 25 years now, the festival have been delivering some of the biggest lineups and the best vibes on the Australian festival circuit.

Personally, I’ve never had a bad time at Falls. At last year’s festival – headlined by Run The Jewels, Flume, Fleet Foxes, and Glass Animals – I had one of the best festival experiences of my life. So we’ve compiled an extensive guide to this phenomenal festival.

Getting excited for Falls Festival? Yeah, so are we… but it’s never too early to get started with some preparation. Here’s out extensive guide to this incredible event.

Music

Of course the number one priority of any music festival should be the music. And with a stacked lineup that includes such artists as Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Catfish & The Bottlemen, and CHVRCHES, it appears Falls agree.

While this year’s lineup boasts some real heavy-hitting headliners, there are also a huge list of acts lower down on the lineup that are definitely worth your time.

If you’re a fan of Aussie hip-hop, Falls is the perfect time to acquaint yourself with Triple One; the band we believe are Australia’s next huge hip-hop group. the Sydney boys have been tearing apart the local scene for years now, though now they finally look poised to become a household name. Do yourself a favour and head along to their set.

Elsewhere on the lineup, Nashville based singer-songwriter Soccer Mommy will be bringing her effortlessly cool brand of indie-rock down under for a series of shows that you definitely shouldn’t miss. If you got a chance to see Soccer Mommy at Splendour earlier this year, you’ll already know what you’re in for. If not, now’s your chance.

Planning

The key to an enjoyable festival experience is undeniably the planning. Before you embark on a weekend of good tunes, we reccomend you print out some set times, grab a highlighter, sit down, and really plan out each day.

Clashes happen. They’re unfortunate, but they happen. Best bet is to be across it and know who you’re going to see and when you’re going to see them. Set yourself up with an itinerary and don’t miss out on your favourite acts.

The App

When it comes to planning your festival and navigating the huge festival grounds, the official Falls Festival app is your dearest friend. The App allows you to select the artists you want to see, place them in a planner, and it’ll even send you a notification when they’re about to play.

You can build your planner, share it with your mates, and stay on top of everything that’s going down at your leg of the festival.

The General Store

We’ve all been there. You get to the festival and realise you’ve forgotten something really bloody important. Toothpaste, soap, sunscreen, tent accessories… they’re all really easy to forget.

But luckily, Falls has its own General Store where you can purchase all those little necessities, and have a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable festival experience.
