Grab a box of tissues and watch Dave Grohl pay tribute to Lemmy at his memorial service

Over the weekend, Motörhead implored fans to band together, via the internet, and raise a glass for their fallen comrade Lemmy as his memorial service was broadcast live on a Youtube webcast.

Among those to pay their respects at the service was none other than Dave Grohl who recalled fond memories of his long friendship with the legendary frontman. He tells a story about the first time he met Lemmy, whose first words to Grohl apparently were, “Sorry about your friend Kurt,” among other tales of drinking and hanging out.

Aside from Grohl, Lemmy’s band mate Mikkey Dee, Guns n’ Roses’ Matt Sorum, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich from Metallica, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, and Alice in Chains’ Mike Inez also paid tribute to Lemmy during the memorial. The whole thing is pretty emotional, so grab a box and tissues and remember one of rock and roll’s greats.
