In need of some good listening? Being a Friday, we’re absolutely swimming in hot new singles, EPs and albums from around Australia and abroad.

good listening methyl ethel

It’s Friday, which means there’s good listening ahead. Here are five brand new releases which caught our eye today.

Julia Jacklin – Comfort

It’s been nothing but net for Julia Jacklin lately, each single from her upcoming album Crushing  matched with a gorgeous visual co-directed by Jacklin and regular collaborator Nick Mckk. The latest, Comfort, is no exception.

Get your ears and eyes all over it below. Crushing is out February 22nd – pre-order your copy here.

Methyl Ethel – Triage

Every new album from Methyl Ethel is an absolute treat to devour, frontman Jake Webb never failing to deliver a few wonkily catchy moments through the band’s art-pop lens. From the first vox lines of opener Ruiner you’ll be completely entranced… but really, did you expect anything else?

The band have also announced a national tour to support the album, kicking off this June in Perth. Grab all the details right here.

Traffik Island – Nature Strip

A side project of Zak Olsen (ORB, HIEROPHANTS, The Frowning Clouds), Traffik Island’s debut LP released today through the unstoppable Flightless Records. If you’re a fan of Olsen’s other work, you’ll no doubt give it a thumbs up.

A neon-green vinyl pressing of the album limited to 500 copies has, you guessed it, already sold out. If you’re still keen on ol’ faithful black wax, grab a copy here.

Drugdealer – Fools

LA-based Drugdealer has dropped Fools, a new track that’s simply too damn easy to listen to. Every time that sax interjects, I just wanted to melt.

The single comes alongside news of Drugdealer’s brand new album Raw Honey, to be released April 19th via Mexican Summer. Pre-order the goods here.

Rex Orange County – New House

After showing Australian audiences what he’s got throughout the 2019 St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival tour, Rex Orange County celebrated Valentine’s Day with the ultra-cute New House.

A surprise release, not to mention his first new music since October 2017, New House will be a welcome edition to just about anyone’s Friday.
