Alex the Astronaut, Montaigne and more gather for charity concert remembering Luke Liang

Content Warning: This article discusses suicide.

Last month, beloved member of the music community Luke Liang passed away at the age of 28, after losing his battle with depression.

To celebrate the life and legacy of the incredibly talented musician, his friends and peers will be gathering together on October 4th to raise money for music charity, Support Act.

Luke Liang was a highly esteemed member of the international and Australian music community, widely celebrated as a multi-talented artist and performer.

Luke Liang’s former Papa vs Pretty bandmate Tom Myers recently released a statement following the sudden passing of his friend and accompanist.

“Luke was perhaps the most impressive man I’ve ever met. Literally, anything he turned his hand to he mastered (sometimes in a matter of hours), a willing listener and an incredible mate to all of us.”

“We are all naturally devastated, but we’re much stronger if we’re together. It’s been so overwhelming to receive so many well wishes and messages of support. Thank You.”

Alex the Astronaut, Jarryd James, Montaigne, Thelma Plum, Jack River and ‘friends’ will perform a one-off show, A Bright Light: An Evening for Luke, at Sydney’s Metro Theatre.

Following the passing of Luke Liang, fellow artists in the community want to ensure that the dialogue surrounding mental health is open and welcoming to anyone who might be struggling.
