Whether you’re running around mad trying to get your Christmas shopping done or flipping your boss the bird as you take an extended holiday one thing is for certain, no matter how silly the season there will always be great gigs on. Here’s a few we’re giving the Happy seal of approval.

best gigs of the week

Cap off your week losing your shit to some of the best live Aussie musicians on the touring circuit. If you can’t decide here are 4 gigs we highly recommend.

Pikachunes – The Gasometer Hotel, Melbourne, Friday December 11

Everybody’s favourite synth-pop Pokemon wizard Miles G. Loveless aka Pikachunes has been on a steady rise since laying his roots in Melbourne. Not to mentions he’s just released this pretty slick cover of Love is a Battlefield with AViVA, so if you have some 80s nostalgia be sure to get down. He’s playing with Fortunes and Yugen too, it’s gonna be a killer night.

WAAX – Black Bear Lodge, Friday December 116

We’re running out of good things to say about WAAX. Their EP Holy Sick is the tits. Maz DeVita is one of the best vocalists you’ll see live. They’re a shot of adrenaline delivered in a way akin to Vincent Vega stabbing Mia Wallace in the heart, not to mention Baskervillian and Walken are supporting too.

Slum Sociable – The Odd Fellow, Perth, Saturday December 12

If you find yourself trying to stave off time waiting for Hugh Jackman to perform at the Perth Arena next week and seeing another farewell tour from John Farnahm tour with your parents (grandparents?) is just too naff, then head over to The Odd Fellow to take in one of the best electronic acts in the country, Slum Sociable. These boys have some seriously chill vibes, so get to sipping on your tipple of choice and enjoy the slow burn jams.

Mansionair – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney, Saturday December 12

Speak Easy has to be one of the most gorgeous melodies to be released this year. That vocal will melt your soul, nuff said.
