Featuring some of the fastest fingers in the business, don’t miss Oliver Downes taking his debut record Ultraviolet on the road

Independent artist Oliver Downes is a musician whose formative career has been forged in the fires of a killer live schedule. After releasing his premiere EP at the end, Downes took on a relentless live schedule, hitting every venue imaginable and impressing wherever he tread.

Since then he’s moved down the east coast to trendy Melbourne, and completed a debut album. A couple of weeks ago, Ultraviolet launched at the Wesley Anne in Northcoate to overwhelming success, and now Downes is taking the record back up north to celebrate.

After bringing twinkling piano melodies, sharp lyricism and superior guest musicianship together on his debut record Ultraviolet, Oliver Downes is taking that energy on tour.

Downes will be hitting a few NSW venues as well as one in the capital on the Ultraviolet tour, being joined by a couple of different supports. In Katoomba and Canberra you’ll catch post-chamber ensemble Hinderlandt, while at the Sydney show Hollie Matthew will be bringing a blues and folk twist.

Ultraviolet was marked by a stunning sonic variety not often seen on debut albums, with Downes treading a grey area between classical strings, modern downtempo electronica, and vocal balladry throughout the record. Live renditions of the track listing are bound to create an eclectic performance atmosphere totally unique to Downes.
