Drop everything, because Studio Ghibli’s TV show is on it’s way

The visionaries at Studio Ghibli have been inspiring the world with their gorgeous animated features for over 30 years. Two years ago they moved into the world of television, producing a 26 episode series named Ronja the Robber’s Daughter.

Based on the 1981 novel by Astrid Lundgren, the show follows a cheeky and rebellious band of young thieves as they go about their lives in a picturesque woodland world.

With the world moving away from film and into television, Studio Ghibli’s TV show is going worldwide, seeing an English release later this year.

Few details have been released regarding the cast members Ronja’s English dub, although Gillian Anderson is on board as the narrator.

Since Hayao Miyazaki stepped down as director of Studio Ghibli last year, his son Goro has stepped into the same role on the studio’s new projects – including Ronja.

The English release will premiere later this year on Amazon Prime. Watch the Japanese trailer below:
