To break into the music scene via impressive live shows requires attitude, and Melbourne based three-piece Destrends is soaked in it.

The trio of theatrical rockers have been smashing their brand of showy post-punk through a huge list of top-notch venues and gigs over the last two years, and we’re happy to announce they’re gearing up for a debut release and a tour to match.

DESTRENDS

Destrends are proven entertainers on the stage, and their single Papa displays the same vitality as the band’s raucous live shows.

Their single Papa, released through The A&R Department, oozes Destrends’ raw, head-banging style – musically and lyrically. The song narrates the time lead singer Matt Savage “ruined family Christmas” and suitably screams roughness and anarchy.

Heavy guitar and bass lines heave the track into shape, driving the tune like a hefty, convertible piece of American muscle.

The tour kicks off in August and judging from Destrends’ past show-buddies, it won’t be missable. The band has shared stages with Queen of the Stone Age’s Mark Lanegan, Stonefield, Hoodoo Gurus and psych-lords King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at their esteemed Gizzfest in 2015.

You won’t get Gizz-style robes, but we’ve been told you can expect Doc Martins, skinny jeans and a shitload of glitter. Destrends are not a band ready to be upstaged.

Destrends’ EP is slated for a release in late 2016, but here are the tour dates below so you can fill the void in between:

Fri Aug 5 – Mynt Lounge, Werribee
