“Coastal, sun-soaked vibes”: Band of Frequencies release their irresistibly groovy track, Sunray

Hailing from the pristine beaches and relaxed landscapes of Queensland’s Sunshine coast, Band of Frequencies have returned with their ultimate soundtrack for the summer.

The independent wave makers new track Sunray conjures up the all the ‘coastal, sun-soaked vibes’ you could ask for with their unique, ultra-cool combo of reggae, psychedelic-funk sounds.

Presenting themselves as Australia’s best up and coming jam band, Band of Frequencies reflect an eclectic array of genres, from Jazz fusion to surf rock. These guys are all good vibes and even better tunes bound to have you hooked from beginning to end.

Lead vocalist, Shannon Sol Carroll and the band make an important point to put their music where their mouth is, combining ‘irresistible grooves with environmental activism, wide-ranging creative collaborations with respected artists and a love of the ocean.’

“I wrote the lyrics to Sunray up near the lighthouse at Double Island Point. They came about through reflecting on the things that bring me joy: My family. The Ocean. Being immersed in nature. Living in sync with the tides, wind and waves. These simple things always refresh my perspective and reassert what I am truly grateful for in this life.”

“Essentially Sunray is a personal reminder to tune in, visualise what I perceive to be the essence of existence and stay connected to that vision. In amongst a hectic schedule, there can be limited opportunities to have time out so tapping into that source, that sanctuary, that space is super important.”

To celebrate and share the joy, dance and uplifting vibes of their brand new release, Band of Frequencies have announced a nationwide tour. Doubling as a surf trip for all the band members, the track is an ode to their love for the ocean and the dreamy consciousness ever present in all of their music.

“The intention behind the song is simply to inspire people to feel uplifted and to want to move and dance. Sonically it incorporates the elements of funk, dub, roots and dreamy spaciousness that the band have become known and loved for. Lyrically it embodies the intrinsic human values that the band proudly live by.”
