Christo Jones marries pop and vast experimentalism with Gravity, live from his sunroom studio

Live music is what it’s all about, and it’s even better when you are up close and personal. Multi instrumentalist Christo Jones gives us that and more in this live clip for his tune Gravity.

Ahead of his show at Waywards on June 30th with Shearin’, Aegean Sun and Smoke Rings, the songwriter has gone above and beyond with this bad boy. Filmed from the ceiling fan above his head and a second point of view outside his window, it’s an immediate entry point into the room where Jones crafts his music.

Intertwining looped guitar lines, electric drums and vocals in a stunning setting, Christo Jones crafts and experimental yet accessible live sound with Gravity.

Earlier this year Christo Jones released his spellbinding Gravity  EP. His music, while pop in nature, lends itself to an alternate and experimental sonic experience. The record was indeed conceptual and incredibly personal, setting a precedent for further releases from the artist.

The track and this video are gripping and, if nothing else, a showcase for the diversity and dexterity of Jones’ instrumental ability. With gripping guitars to open and resounding drums to build the track, Jones’ vocals are rich and filled with welcome idiosyncrasies.

An Australian lilt and passionate escapism running throughout, the personal clip forgoes the barrier between artist and audience. We are invited into his world, seeing every hesitation as Gravity comes to life.

As the song fades we heard the subtle birdcalls outside the window, wrapping up the clip with a touch of the familiar.

If you want to catch Christo Jones in action, Waywards Sydney is where it’s at this Friday. We can’t wait to see what this guy can do in person – grab all the details right here.
