Chris Cornell collaborated with Johnny Cash and no one knew until now

Johnny Cash and Chris Cornell are an unlikely duo for a collaboration, and yet here we are in 2018.

Released today is a song made up of the late Cash’s lyrics (collected from a series of poems, unfinished songs and letters), and the vocals of the much missed Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.

Chris Cornell

Johnny Cash and Chris Cornell have managed to collaborate posthumously on a track recorded before Cornell’s death, originally written using Cash’s lyrics and poems.

After his death a record was released using a collection of Cash’s past musings, titled Johnny Cash: Forever Words. Now as the world continues to mourn the loss of another star in Chris Cornell, his contribution to Cash’s record has been released posthumously.

Titled You Never Knew My Mind, this is one of the most beautiful meetings of talents from beyond the grave, however strange it may seem. This makes us think where the musings of musicians could go in the future? Could we see music being created by combining the talents of living and dead artists?

Nevertheless, the track combines the classic rock elements of Cornell’s sound with the formidable songwriting and lyricism of Johnny Cash. A true wonder for the music community.
