Hilltop Hoods and CanTeen team up for Side of Stage, providing children with cancer free access to gigs

A new initiative called Side of Stage launched by Hilltop Hoods in partnership with youth cancer charity CanTeen aims to give young people impacted by cancer the opportunity to have free access to concerts and festivals across Australia.

Cancer affects 23,000 young Australians between the ages of 12-25 every year, and has a devastating effect on all those who experience it. This includes not only those diagnosed with cancer themselves, but individuals with loved ones fighting against it.

The Side of Stage initiative aims to bring joy into young peoples’ lives as well as acknowledge the healing impact music can have on those affected by cancer.

Speaking in a press release, Hilltop Hoods shared:

“Cancer is something that affects us all at some point in our lives, whether a personal struggle or someone close to us. We seek to empower and give strength to the suffering.”

Many artists are onboard with the initiative, including Alice Skye, Holy Holy, Thundamentals and Montaigne as well as music organisations and festivals such as Moshtix, Yours and Owls, The Brag Media and Groovin the Moo.

CanTeen is a charity foundation created by young people for young people living with cancer. They strive to assist youth in dealing with the social and emotional impacts of cancer as well as providing practical support.
