Bombay Show Pig

Growing out of their own shoes at a rapid speed, the vibrant Dutch indie-rock duo Bombay Show Pig certainly deliver on their ability to clear the mind of everything except the intense pulse of their beat.

For the unacquainted, the Amsterdam based two-piece are composed of Mathias Janmaat (vocals/guitar) and Linda van Leeuwen (vocals/drums/keyboard) and have drawn comparison to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Arcade Fire, with White Stripes-esque undertones thrown in to provide a bit of perspective.

bombay show pigHailing from the shroomy lands of the Netherlands are Bombay Show Pig, who are making a name for themselves via their insane live shows.

The group have been around on the Dutch music scene for a little while now, gaining global recognition for their 2012 release Vulture/Provider which received positive reviews and have since gone on to play a bunch of tours and international festivals.

The fusion of Bombay Show Pig’s sound is hard to put your finger on, but it certainly leaves an imprint. Maybe it’s best described as an induced episode of momentary expressive insanity through a pair of headphones. The sheer enthusiasm that the pair throw into their music is nothing short of contagious.

Beyond the eccentricity that is their album – and with a new one set to be released later this year – the pair have created hype surrounding their live performances with their undeniable chemistry and quirky stage presence.

Bombay Show Pig is the child of progressive rock and psychedelic experimentalism. They are a duo who possess extraordinary amounts of vision and creative knacks, and with this, their music succeeds effortlessly. The combination of the textured sounds lead to a listen that is subtly varied, allowing Bombay Show Pig’s own signature to shine through their comparative influences.

Having showcased their vibrant on-stage personalities at numerous international gigs, there is no questioning why we should keep an eye on this pair. I certainly can’t wait for them to make the trip to this part of the world.
