Bluesfest keeps on growing; announces Boomerang indigenous mini-festival

Continuing their crusade to make 2018 the biggest edition yet, Bluesfest has announced it will be teaming up with Boomerang Festival once again to celebrate the unique voices and soulful stories of indigenous culture at this year’s festival.

Bluesfest have announced they will be teaming up with Boomerang Festival again in 2018 to celebrate the art, music, and culture of indigenous peoples from Australia and around the world.

Boomerang at Bluesfest is essentially a festival within a festival, with a lineup of fantastic artists hailing from Arnhem Land, Canada, Papua New Guinea, Asia and the Pacific. The Strides, Yirrmal, Benny Walker and Move It Mob Style are just a few of the artist performing this year.

“Managed and programmed from an Aboriginal perspective, Boomerang is a dedicated First Nations program that showcases excellence through performance and culture,” says Bluesfest.

Boomerang will be setting up a unique cultural precinct at the Juke Joint in Bluesfest that will also deliver a family-friendly program with diverse range of dance, language, music, weaving, and traditional healing programs by some of Australia and the world’s foremost masters.

“The Boomerang Festival sitting within Bluesfest is a vital precinct that increases the visibility of our culture. I want everyone to hear the music, witness the dance, sing the song and listen to the story. Come visit and play with us in 2018,” Boomerang director Rhonda Roberts AO said.

The festival will again take place on Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, just outside Byron Bay, over the Easter long weekend (Thursday 29th March to Monday 2nd April 2018). Grab your tickets here.
