Frontman of the Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, has just featured on the cover of PAWS magazine for not the first, but second time this decade.
The cover features the lead vocalist, his son, girlfriend and their two adopted cats, Angelface and Diamondbaby.
In 2014, Billy Corgan appeared on the front cover of PAWS Chicago, the publication circulated by an adoption centre and no-kill organisation of the same name.
Four years later, the iconic frontman and his family feature on the magazine for a second time, with a strong message about the animal rights driven efforts of the PAWS organisation.
“We are so thrilled and honoured to celebrate PAWS Chicago 20th Anniversary with this cover shoot. We LOVE being a part of the PAWS family, and meet so many in Chicago who, like us, have chosen to adopt. Pictured here with Augustus (Corgan’s son), Chloe (Corgan’s girlfriend) and I are Angelface and Diamondbaby, both rescues who came from the worst of circumstances, and because of PAWS’ tireless efforts, are now treasured members of our family.”
Corgan’s previous appearance on PAWS was the apparent trigger of a continued feud between the iconic frontman and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
“Maybe he’s being ironic, or maybe when the cool rock stars start doing less rock starry things, it kind of makes us face our own morality.”
Cooper released a lengthy statement mocking the lead vocalist’s decision to feature on the magazine cover.
“See I want R.E.M. to stay just the way I know and love them, I don’t want Everybody Hurts to suddenly be used in an Excedrin commercial. I don’t ever want to see a product called Eddie Vedder’s Prune Jam. I want to see neither Stephen Malkmus nor Thom Yorke on the cover of AARP magazine.”
Nowadays we can all agree that there are plenty of ways we can roast Billy Corgan, but his advocacy for animal adoption and the protection of our feline friends is definitely not one of them.
