About time: Canberra’s Spilt Milk Festival kicks off Australia’s first pill testing service

Australia has finally opened up to pill testing at festivals, with the hope of promoting safe drug use amongst festival goers and ultimately, preventing drug-related deaths.

Collaborating with the Safety Testing Advisory Service at Festivals and Events (STA-SAFE) group, Spilt Milk festival will offer a drug testing service that allows users to be informed about the contents of their pills and their potency.

It’s about bloody time: Spilt Milk festival will be Australia’s first event to offer pill testing services, hopefully opening up the floodgates for many events to come.

Canberra’s Spilt Milk festival will see the country’s first on-site testing services, with the ACT government taking a progressive step in the right direction. The initiative aims to create an opportunity to remind festival goers of exactly what is involved with taking drugs and regardless of their test’s outcome, users will be run through the health risks.

Spilt Milk kicks off at the end of November, seeing major acts such as Alison Wonderland, Carmada, Cashmere Cat, What So Not and more descending on Canberra.
