Reuben Koops beams with passion and optimism in his charming new EP Higher Ground

24-year-old Aussie singer/songwriter Reuben Koops is a man of many talents, crafting tunes so vibrant you can’t help but feel overwhelmed with positive energy.

Stumbling across success after performing to one million viewers on an Australian reality television show, Koops has continued to rise as an impressive solo act ever since.

Higher Ground is an explosion of powerful vocals, twangy guitars and catchy beats. We’re deeming this as Reuben Koops’ best material to date.

Country-tinged and sonically advanced, this indie-pop connoisseur is beyond his years musically, radiating a strong sense of passion in his work that makes him significantly stand out from the rest.

Crafting vibrant and energetic tunes, Koops has whipped up a brand new EP, Higher Ground, drizzled with romance, euphoric folk and clever lyricism.

Working with renowned producer David Ryan Harris who has previously worked with the likes of John Mayer, Guy Sebastian, Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey, Harris rounded up some of LA’s top session musicians to play on Higher Ground.

Featuring bassist Sean Hurlery (John Mayer, Lana Del Rey), keyboardist Jeff Babko (Frank Ocean, Jason Mraz, Sheryl Crow) and drummer Victor Indrizzo (Macy Gray, Seal, Damien Rice), the tracks on Higher Ground truly come to life with a dreamy nostalgia for summer, adventure and romance.

In addition to recently signing a record deal with US label Music Alternatives, Koops has also whipped up a short documentary with the New York Film Academy about the recording process for Higher Ground, keeping track of his inspiring journey as a young Aussie solo artist.

Beaming with positive energy, Higher Ground is one of the most optimistic releases of recent times, each track from Higher Ground to Something To Believe In and Labour Of Love charming the listener with hand claps and gentle keystrokes. Each track takes an intense focus on Koops’ vocals, seeming to drive the songs melodically.

Upbeat, romantic and a distinctive soundtrack of summer, Higher Ground is a compelling seven tracks of passion and romance, with some definitive Boy & Bear and Ben Harper vibes.
