Better than Vivid? Artists stack 50 disco balls together for your viewing pleasure

Artists Kyle Mcdonald and Jonas Jonejan have filled a dark room with fifty disco balls. If that doesn’t sound cool enough already, they don’t rely on reflection alone. The big shiny balls and room installation have timed lighting sequences and programmed projectors to entrance and mesmerise visitors.

The project titled Like Leaks, is described as a “curious space that alternates between a meditative state, and an uneasy imbalance. An experience in combining a found object with computer vision to create a profound and unusual experience.

Light Leaks isn’t just disco balls. It goes deeper than that, as artist and professor Kyle McDonald and his partner Jonas Jonejan works with computer code to help create the stunning displays.

Jonejan lives and operates out of New York City, he’s worked as a creative technologist at Google and has developed interactive sets for both theatre and television.

It seems flashing lights and oil slides just don’t do it for the punters anymore, you need to be a professor or a Google superhuman to make your Saturday Night Fever dreams a reality.
