A new album of unreleased Prince music is coming later this year

A new album of previously unreleased Prince music is scheduled for release in September this year.

The new album has been put together by Atom Factory, the company who now manage the artist’s Paisley Park estate.

Prepare yourselves, Prince fans: An entire album previously unreleased music is on the way.

Last week, Atom Factory released an original version of the iconic track Nothing Compares 2 U, giving us a delightful first taste of the upcoming album.

Prince was always incredibly protective of his music, keeping a large portion of it locked up in his infamous ‘vault’.

Prince recorded and rehearsed and performed constantly, and he taped everything, so once you think you’ve gotten close [to finding everything], you find new things,” Atom Factory CEO Troy Carter told Variety.

The vault was just one room and that room ran over into multiple rooms… So we’re still in the process, and the fun part of my job is finding new things — every week I’m getting a new call about something special.”

In addition to the announcement of a new album, Atom Factory has also launched two new websites, including an archival “annotated discography” of Prince’s entire body of work.

A memoir is also scheduled for release later in the year, as the artist submitted over fifty handwritten pages to a publisher shortly before his death in 2016.
