A brand new album and a tell-all podcast from the Pixies is on its way

Pixies have announced the release of a new, as yet untitled LP, set to drop in September of this year. In the meantime though, they have also announced a 12 week podcast going behind the scenes.

Detailing the production of the album, the podcast will feature audio from inside Dreamland Recordings near Woodstock, New York during the recording process.

Pixies have released a trailer announcing the podcast Past Is Prologue, Pixies in anticipation of their seventh studio album

Past Is Prologue, Pixies will have weekly instalments, the first being released on July 27th. Hosted and narrated by music journalist Tony Fletcher, the podcast will feature in-studio recordings as well as interviews with the band and album producer Tom Dalgety.

The iconic band became a thing of legend throughout the 80s and 90s. Exploding onto the music scene in the late 80s, they are often credited as being pioneers of the alt rock genre, Subsequently resulting in them being cited as an influence to NirvanaRadiohead, and U2.

After disbanding in 1993, and then reforming in 2004, the coming record will be their seventh studio album, said to feature a departure from some of their well known style. In the trailer Dalgety is recorded saying “No one wants to hear them try and retread things that they’ve done before”.

I guess we’ll just have to tune into the podcast and wait. Check out the trailer below.
