61 albums have been shortlisted for the 2016 Australian Music Prize – what do you reckon made the cut?

It’s that time of the year again where the team at the Australian Music Prize hunker down and delve into the sea of great Aussie music that has come out in the last 12 months and attempt to decide on a winner – a task which we can only imagine would be excruciatingly difficult.

However, the AMP have finally emerged to announced the shortlist of potential winners, whittled down from 364 eligible albums  – what do you reckon made the cut?

61 albums out of a possible 364 have been shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize – what do you reckon made the cut?

Former Grinspoon frontman, and one of the AMP judges, Phil Jameson is impressed by the list, saying:

“Wowsers… what a trip… so many great records of so many genres… the Australian Music Prize has never been so sprawling… getting to the end of almost 400 albums… it has been rewarding but also somewhat exhausting… hope you love our Longlist as much as we do”.

Of the 61 potentials, 9 albums will make the cut for the short-shortlist, which will be announced on the 18th of January. From there one will emerge as the winner of the $30,000 prize (which Courtney Barnett deservingly won last year), courtesy of the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA).

Check out the fill list below and ruminate away on who should be the winner.
