Flight Facilities – Down To Earth

Welcome aboard ladies and gentleman. Today’s flight will be a little over one hour. Just a few safety precautions before we head off – we ask that you move about the cabin as much as possible, be sure to loosen those belts, and remember, all our flights are fitted with smoke detectors so do try not to get caught. We’ll be dimming the cabin lights for take-off. Thank you for choosing to fly with Flight Facilities.

Flight Facilities

Flight Facilities deliver the dance floor goods on their debut LP featuring an all-star list of guest collaborators.

Yep, hold onto your butts passengers. Sydney electro aeronauts Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell are finally ready for take-off with their debut album Down To Earth. Airborne for four years, the aviators of house music have played shows in every destination from Falls to Coachella and landed singles racking up air miles on playlists from Sydney to Stockholm.

Soaring to all new heights, their debut album enlists a vocalist crew including Emma Louise, Reggie Watts, Micky Green, Stee Downes, Owl Eyes and Bishop Nehru to bring you the soundtrack to launch your summer. Experimenting with electro-pop and taking inspiration from Cut Copy and Metronomy, Down To Earth is what you’d expect from these top guns – First Class all the way.

After you’re welcomed aboard, mellow house track Two Bodies featuring Brisbane’s Emma Louise dims the cabin lights. Melting into the aerodynamic rhythm, her airy vocals coax you into a dreamlike state and set the album’s cruise control vibe. With warm synths in full flight, you’ll be reclining in your chair and floating above the clouds long before the captain has turned off the seatbelt sign.

When you feel like moving about the cabin, in-flight entertainment on offer is summery soul track Sunshine featuring American comedian and musician Reggie Watts, and old-school hip hop beat Why Do You Feel featuring 18-year-old rapper Bishop Nehru. While Reggie’s funky vocals fill his track with sunshine and disco vibes, Bishop’s leisurely flow sends you back to the 90s. But once your tray table has been stowed, feel free to unwind courtesy of Heart Attack and Owl Eyes’ sweet tones. Its slow pulsing beat is the perfect way to chill out and settle in for the long- haul trip ahead.

High-flyer tracks Clair De Lune featuring Christine Hoberg and Crave You featuring Giselle are also on board the flight. As Triple J Hottest 100 alumni, both tunes still soar above the rest. While Christine’s dreamy tones transcend the skies and give her track an otherworldly feel, Giselle’s down-to-earth lyrics glide alongside her track’s jazzy techno beat. But, the Flight Facilities care kit also includes a sneaky Crave You cappella reprise from none other than Kylie Minogue. As if these tracks haven’t already scored some serious frequent flyer points, you’ll be putting them on repeat (again) all summer long.

So, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Flight Facilities debut album where local time is party time and the temperature feels like summer. Flying direct to electro, house, funk and hip-hop all within the hour, this is one First Class ticket worth booking.
