We’re Going To Be Friends: Jack White has written his very first children’s book

Jack White is an unstoppable creative force. He’s about to release his new documentary American Epic – which explores the roots of blues music and the pioneering days of recorded sound – and his label Third Man Records have been flat chat with the opening of their new vinyl pressing plant. The Dead Weather are also soon to release a live album; and White is currently working on a new solo album.

Somehow, though, he has also found the time to write a children’s book.

Jack White

Jack White is an unstoppable creative force. On top of his ever-burgeoning career in music, he has just announced his very first children’s book, We’re Going To Be Friends.

We’re Going To Be Friends is titled after the White Stripes song of the very same name, off 2001’s White Blood Cells. It’s been illustrated by Elinor Blake, who’s worked on The Ren and Stimpy Show and Pee Wee’s Playhouse.

The book will follow the track’s protagonist Suzy Lee as she goes to school and finds a new friend. It’s also White’s first attempt at writing a children’s book. Cute.

We’re Going To Be Friends will be released on November 7, just a few months after The White Stripe’s 20th anniversary as a band, via Third Man Books. Check it out here.
